Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows

by J.K. Rowling

How fun…another wonderful book revealing the marvelous world of Harry Potter. How sad….the last one!!! I had planned on savoring this book over time ( I am not a fast reader) but unlike many friends who gobbled it up in one sitting (I accused one coworker of eating fine chocolate and drinking fine wine the same way–her response, “well yeah!” ) But around every corner lurked an evil spoiler…the tele, coworkers, friends, people riding the bus, even the only paper I read weekly, the Nation threatened to reveal all. Finally a 9 year old child (nameless but you know who you are) blurted out a tidbit and I was forced to read it through.

Back to review…loved it…was amazed how Ms. Rowling tied in all the previous stories and liked that I had guessed correctly about what would happen from previous book.
My only frustration is that all these books start out with Harry having to prove himself. I like that he is sort of the un-hero with his lovable foibles but come on Folks!, he has done more in one book to be a hero for the rest of his life. And people in authority are just blithering idiots. I would have thought this unbelievable years ago…that weddings and birthdays and bar-mitzvahs would go on as planned while You-Know-Who was threatening all that was good…but years of watching this American administration bumble along with no accountability while we the people just twiddle our thumbs while our civil liberties are chipped away makes me a real believer. Oops! off topic.

The book was wonderful…ended too quick and am hoping that in the years to follow someone will be able go add to Ms. Rowlings wonderful world in some way.
That is all I will say as I want this posting to be spoiler free.

    ROFL
Thank you for the spoiler free posting of this book. Since I was even closer to the young lad in question, I too read the book lickety split.
I had a different take on the weddings and celebrations. There is evil in the world and part of what makes life living instead of just surviving is continuing to celebrate the events in our lives. Its kind of giving the evil a big ol’ juicy raspberry!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows…

Well funksters don’t always agree, which is often a good thing. How boring that would be!
Ed loved Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows while I liked it.  Some parts were great, but it many ways it felt like a too long goodbye.  Maybe I was sup…

    *SPOILER ALERT*
Great review! I devoured The Hallows in two sittings just so you know, and this book was also my half favorite of all the books. What really ticked me off was how Snape died, and Hermione did not. I was really hoping that a main character would die, and I have loathed her seince I read the first book… oh well. I will cry in my own little corner. -_-’
